How to apply for a Schengen Visa

The Embassy of Denmark in Mexico processes visa applications from Mexico and our accredited countries.

Information about representation agreements can be found following this link.

How to apply

NEW procedure from 15 May 2014: As of 15 May 2014, visa applicants need to appear in person at the Embassy for the collection of biometric data: ten fingerprints and a photograph are collected from persons applying for a visa. Applications can no longer be handed in at an honorary consulate in the area covered by the Embassy in Mexico to be sent for processing at the Embassy. Before the recording of the photo applicants may be asked to remove glasses or adjust head coverings if they hide facial features.
Certain categories of applicants are exempt from the requirement to give fingerprints, including:
* Children under the age of 12
* Persons for whom fingerprinting is physically impossible
* Heads of State and members of national governments, and members of their official delegations when invited for an official purpose.
The introduction of biometric data is part of the Schengen Visa Information System (VIS). For more information about VIS, fingerprints, data protection and legal background, please see the
EU website

In the Dominican Republic and in Haiti we have a representation agreement with the French Embassy. This means that the French Embassies in Santo Domingo and in Port-au-Prince receive and process applications for visa on behalf of Denmark. In Trinidad and Tobago we have a representation agreement with the Embassy of the Netherlands. Above you can find link to a list of all representation agreements.

A Schengen Visa can be applied for no earlier than three months before the intended visit and no less than 15 calendar days prior to departure.

Applicants must fill in the application form and pay the application fee online through Visa Self Service Denmark (VSS). Once the online application and payment has been completed a cover letter will be issued which must be printed and signed by the applicant.

Lodgement in person

The cover letter, passport and required documentation (as listed below) must then be presented by the applicant IN PERSON at the Embassy of Denmark in Mexico or at another Danish mission abroad entitled to process visa applications or at the Embassy of another country with which we have a representation agreement, see link to list of agreements above.

Fees

The application fee is 60 EUR.* (Online payment will be deducted in EUR NOT in MXN). The Application fee is non-refundable irrespective of the outcome. The application fee will not be refunded if your application is unsuccessful.
