The Embassy of Denmark in Mexico is looking for a new commercial advisor

After four years at the Embassy one of our most trusted commercial advisors will leave us for a great job as regional manager for Latin America for a Danish company. We are, hence, seeking a new Commercial Advisor at the Embassy’s Commercial Department. The Advisor’s role is to seek, promote and develop business opportunities in Mexico for Danish companies.

The Commercial Department consists of 7 people and provides advisory services on a consultancy basis to Danish companies seeking to enter the Mexican market and Mexican companies looking for Danish solutions. From our offices in Mexico City we also assist companies on the Central American and Caribbean markets.

The Commercial Advisor will have an annual income target and will also be measured on the quality of the services delivered. The Commercial Department is part of close regional cooperation among Danish Embassies in Latin America. The Commercial Advisor will be given a focus area and will be placed in a team of commercial advisors from all over Latin America. The Commercial Advisor we are looking for will – depending on qualifications - be placed in the Food&Agro-team or the Energy&Environment-team. 

The Embassy offers an international work environment with “Danish values” such as great emphasis on delegation of tasks and responsibilities, openness, independence, flexibility, transparency and a minimum of hierarchy. You will have great possibilities for developing sector specific competences and have business travels to Denmark and Latin America. You will work in an open office environment. The work week will be 37 hours, you will get five weeks of vacation, salary based on qualifications and an attractive bonus system.

Main job responsibilities:
Your job is all about helping Danish companies to be successful on the Mexican market. To achieve this goal you will be engaging in a number of commercial and Global Public Affairs activities. Your tasks will include the following:
• Break down barriers to entry by assisting companies in their contact with public authorities.
• Prepare market entry by developing market analyses and distributor searches.
• Organize promotional events and business trips for Danish companies.
• Elaborate reports on different Mexican sectors that are strategic to Danish companies and write articles to Danish commercial magazines.
• Find new business opportunities for Danish companies by liaising with potential Mexican business partners and government authorities.
• Contribute to the Embassy social media profile in relation to commercial activities.

Professional and personal qualifications:
You have a strong interest in facilitating the successful presence on the Mexican market of Danish companies. Furthermore, you should:
• have a relevant post-graduate degree,
• be dynamic and independent, solution and quality oriented and a good team player, who is dedicated to developing the very close cooperation within the regional sector-teams,
• be fluent in English and Spanish and preferably also have a good command of Danish.

It would furthermore be an asset if you: 
• possess experience from a similar position in the private or public sector,
• have profound commercial knowledge of the Mexican market and / or a strong business network in Denmark – particularly knowledge about the energy and environment sector or the food and agro sector would be valuable.

Our new Commercial Advisor will take up the position as soon as possible and no later than 1st of November 2016.
