Oil & Gas Event: Round Table and Reception
On June 7 2011, Mexico and Denmark took steps to promote common agendas within the oil & gas sector as outlined in their Memorandum of Understanding. During a round table session at the Danish Ambassador’s, Susanne Rumohr Hækkerup, residence, executives from eight leading Danish companies within the oil & gas sector discussed common challenges and technical solutions with the Secretary of Energy, Dr. Meade, Subsecretario de Hidrocarburos, Lic. Budebo, Director of Operations in PEMEX, Ing. Murrieta, Dr. Rangel from Comisión Nacional de Hidrocarburos, and three other PEMEX representatives from Exploration & Production, Refinery, and Gas and Petroquimica.
PEMEX is still undergoing structural changes to ensure that the company incorporate knowledge and technology faster, and Danish companies can provide solutions that will make PEMEX more efficient in all steps of the value streams.
That same evening, the Ambassador also welcomed over 50 invites, including: Danish executives, PEMEX representatives, Mexican public figures, and business leaders within the oil & gas sector, to a reception where invites were able to network and taste the gourmet Danish beer, Calavera, produced in Mexico.
The participating companies found the events useful for accessing the relevant Pemex representatives to create concrete business opportunities, following are two selected comments relating to the events:
Falck: ‘In my view the event was very well organized, and I especially appreciated to have the opportunity to meet with the Secretary and the Pemex Executives for the breakfast session, which was very much to the point and provided an unique opportunity for the companies participating to explain their capabilities for and exchange views with this high level audience.’
Welltec: ‘Our experience during the event was excellent, and the most remarkable note refers to the conversation with Sergio Guaso (Pemex Subdirector of New Execution Models), in which we discussed about innovative contractual scheme for Pemex, on behalf of the research of customized solution for their needs. In conversations with him, he showed interest to discuss about our proposal and invited us to have a meeting with him to analyse this possibility.’
Denmark and Mexico will continue their bilateral cooperation within the oil & gas sector to ensure effective use of the fields, combined with high cost-consciousness, focus on safety - and environmental sustainability.
