COMMERCIAL ADVISOR - MARKET ACCESS, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND STRATEGIC ENGAGEMENT - INCLUDING THE ENERGY SECTOR

Are you passionate about helping companies succeed in the growing Mexican market?

Do you bring strong business acumen and a proactive mindset?

And do you enjoy working with business development and acting as a trusted consultant to companies?

Then consider joining our team as a Commercial Advisor at the Danish Embassy in Mexico City.

Based at the Danish Embassy in Mexico City, you will support Danish companies in establishing their business and growth strategies in Mexico. The majority of projects will focus on business development and providing strategic advice. For Danish companies aiming to diversify their supply chains, Mexico is an obvious choice — thanks to its market size, proximity to the US, and strong connections to the rest of Latin America. We are looking for a colleague who can not only help ensure these companies get a solid start but also assist them with their ongoing business activities in Mexico.

Main tasks and responsibilities

As the Commercial Advisor, you will work across sectors and be responsible for all stages of the process, starting from the very first contact with the company. More specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating and supporting the establishment of Danish subsidiaries in Mexico, including providing expertise on relevant Mexican programs for manufacturing and exporting products (e.g., IMMEX, Decreto para impulsar el nearshoring, Ley de Impuesto Sobre la Renta, and benefits related to USMCA/IRA).
  • Acting as project manager for Danish partner companies involved in commercial projects.
  • Researching, developing, and presenting market access and B2B strategies, business development plans, and market intelligence to Danish companies across a wide range of industries.
  • Conducting outreach activities and connecting Danish companies with potential market opportunities, such as local organizations, state authorities, and potential suppliers.
  • Coordinating and managing cross-company initiatives and alliances, including business clusters of Danish companies like the newly established Danish Manufacturing Alliance.
  • Leading strategic initiatives and providing tailored support to Danish companies within the renewable energy sector — with a particular focus on wind — by identifying commercial opportunities, facilitating market access, and offering guidance on relevant regulatory frameworks in Mexico.
  • Planning and organizing business delegations both in Mexico and to Denmark.

You will be part of the team supporting Danish companies in accordance with the Danish strategy Action Plan for Economic Diplomacy with an emphasis on building strong partnerships, and refer to the Embassy management.

The average workweek is 37 hours Monday-Friday and with expected flexibility in busy periods. In addition, you will have five weeks of paid vacation per year and the option to join a workplace pension scheme and medical care (80% reimbursement). Your salary will be based on your qualifications. The contract will be in accordance with minimum standards for the Danish Foreign Service and Mexican Labour Law.

About you

  • You hold a BSc degree (minimum) with relevant experience, potentially from consultancy, business development, project management, or sales.
  • You have a strong ability to listen, understand, and identify tailored solutions that meet the specific business needs of companies.
  • You work independently and proactively, taking initiative to drive projects forward.
  • You approach companies and stakeholders with an outgoing, curious, and service-oriented mindset.
  • You maintain a structured, precise, and punctual work style, ensuring efficient project management and reliable follow-up.
